This compendium of stories about dogs doing bad things is laugh out loud funny book. It was developed from a web site (www.baddogs.com) that encouraged dogs to tell about their misadventures in the human world. Most of the stories occur when the owner isn’t around and these accounts will make dog owner readers think twice about their own strategy for keeping their pet happy when alone. Each tale, told from the dog’s point of view, is a page or two long. Usually the dogs are proud of their deeds. Some are a bit puzzled at the reactions of their “parents”. The topics of woe include: plumbing, flatulence, cars, oops, and beyond categorization. I found myself laughing hysterically at the dog who ate a ballerina slipper with humorous results, along with many of the other anecdotes. All of the escapades have a happy, if sometimes expensive, ending. Usually a photograph of the dog is provided and all chapters have the dog’s name, age, breed, owners names, and cost of the damage. Not great literature, after all, it was written by dogs, but it is amusing, especially when you are so glad it didn’t happen to you (yet!). This book will be appreciated by all dog lovers. It is economically priced for a hardback! T.W.
