This is an easy fiction book for elementary school students where the moon and a boy explore a magical adventure.
The Moon and the Night Sweeper by Mai S. Kemble is a magical story about a young boy who looks out his window and sees a giant Moon. The boy hears the voice of the Moon telling him not to fear and that his special magic will sweep stardust clear. The Moon invites the boy on a magical adventure onto his roof using magic moonbeams where he’ll help the Night Sweeper complete his nightly chore. The boy meets the Night Sweeper where they dance and sweep the star shine away until the boy ends his journey and returns to his bed.
While the words do not always rhyme, the author does a commendable job of finding suitable words. For young kids, the rhyming pattern will be part of their magical adventure.
The watercolor illustrations are enchanting and age appropriate. Children will be captivated by the magical journey, and the glow-in-the dark cover adds to the dream world.
