This is a graphic version of the best seller that combines Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice with violent zombies. The background is the same setting as Pride and Prejudice with the same main characters, except in this title, the Bennet girls are not only learning the art of parlor manners, but are also warriors. There is a plague in England and the dead are rising and turning into horrendous and violent zombies who crash society balls and create deadly battlefields with the living British citizens. So, juxtaposed with the story of parlor manners and the rituals of society one has to mind to get married, the Bennett girls must master the indispensable skills necessary to take down a zombie, too. Just like in the original novel by Austen, Elizabeth Bennet and Mister Darcy manage to have a romance. The graphics that depict the plot are in black and white and keep the story true to form with language that is true to the non-graphic version. This is an interesting takeoff on both the Austen novel and the current best seller that is able to be a romance/horror story with lots of gore, and still be humorous. Recommend for high school libraries where there is interest. Be sure to tell the English teacher about it, especially if they are reading Pride and Prejudice with their class.
