This book attempts to allay some of the fears and
misunderstandings that children feel when their parent(s) are not always around.
Whether this is because of divorce, illness, careers in the military, medicine
or other public service, or other possible reasons, childrens common fears are
addressed in this book.        This book performs a valuable service in addressing
a fear that all children face -- being separated from their parent(s). In easy
to understand sidebars titled case study and Behind the headlines all sorts
of situations where kids and parents have been separated allow students to learn
that they are not alone. In fact, the book concludes with the Top ten tips for
coping with absent parents and find out more where further resources are
presented. While a lot of the information is presented in a rather simplistic
fashion, it will resonate with young readers and fills a niche that is sadly
growing.         A series that discusses and presents issues that children need to
have information (in an easily understandable format) to help them cope and
