This compilation of articles on the
crisis in Darfur is divided into three sections: the background to the crisis,
controversies surrounding the crisis, and personal stories of those affected by
the crisis.        This collection of articles on Darfur will instruct readers on the
nature of the problem and fill in historical details, while also outlining areas
of controversy that have arisen over the past decade or so.  The credentials of
the contributing authors are given at the beginning of each article.  The part
of the book that was most fascinating to read was the last section, in which
people whose lives have been affected by the tragedy in Darfur are telling their
individual stories.  Although some of the articles are from 2005, most were
written later than that, and the chronology takes the reader all the way through
May 2010.  and there is an extensive list of references for further research and
a good index.  Full-color photographs are well placed and attractive throughout
the book.        This book is part of the series Perspectives on Modern World
History.         Kennedy, Carol
