Three different speces of manatees live around the world and are presented in this very informative book that talks not just about manatees but the scientists and the research they conduct. This most informative book teaches the reader about conservation science through studies of three different manatee populations. Full color illustrations abound and relate directly to the passages they are near. The author pulls the reader into the book by presenting a brief overview of what determines the threat level of a species, and then dives into the three different manatee populations and the conservation studies being conducted about them. These stories are followed by some brief biology about the species differences. The book concludes with further resources both print and web, a glossary and an index.
Scientists In the Field (HM)#8      Thirty-five titles complete the series. If this title is representative of the quality of the remaining titles, they would all be a welcome addition to any school or public library collection. Manatees - Conservation      LynFisher
