Using examples of
students who have organized for positive changes regarding the environment,
this how-to book gives step-by-step guidelines to making a difference. It is an outstanding handbook for the student who wants to organize
to make a positive change for the environment, whether by “greening” their
school’s operations or stopping an environmentally destructive development from
being built. In fairly short,
easy-to-read chapters, the authors take students through the necessary steps
for building an organization, recruiting adults to support it, raising funds,
publicizing their efforts, and even running for office. There are many examples of students who have
made a difference peppered throughout the book, along with their portraits and
brief statements, and this reinforces the book’s positive outlook that making change
is possible, even against strong odds.
There are many resources listed for further information, tips for
landing a job or internship in your chosen career, and a very good index.
