Thirty-four pairs of homonyms and homophones are introduced by means of a humorous story about pie-baking.  This is a great way to introduce middle-grade or older students to these word pairs.  Monkey wants help in bringing bananas to his house to bake banana cream pies.  All the other animals refuse to help.  Only ant, who is a new aunt, will help.  After the monkey and ants have eaten their fill of pie, all the other animals want some too.  They help clear the banana peels and enjoy a piece of pie for their work.

 
What makes this book special is its constant use of homophones and homonyms.  It is a great way to introduce these words to students.  It is appropriate for all ages, but especially grades 3-8.
