This science book about ladybugs includes information about their body parts, their varieties, their life cycles, the ways in which they are beneficial to humans, and additional facts.  It is a well-researched, beautifully illustrated, accurate book about ladybugs.  Ladybugs are fun to watch and beneficial to homeowners and farmers.  The information is accurate, and the illustrations are beautifully drawn watercolors.

As a science text this title includes the labeling of body parts and a map showing were ladybugs are found in the world.  The life cycle is introduced, and then each stage is more fully described on the following pages.  The wide variety of kinds of ladybugs is illustrated as well.  The benefits of ladybugs to humans is explained in the section about the insects they eat.

This is a thoroughly researched text, typical of the work of Gail Gibbons.   It is also beautiful to look at.  It will be a great addition to elementary school collections.
