Stillwater Marina is June Farrell and her mom’s shop.  There they sell all kinds of things, and they also make great cookies and pies that are best sellers.  June and her best friend Luke, both 12 years old, love swimming in the lake. Luke lives on an island with his dad, who is a sculptor.  June understands that her mom is a lesbian and chose to have her by using a sperm bank, but

Mom and Eva make plans to wed soon, but some of the neighbors aren’t too happy about this decision.  Public opinion begins to interfere in June’s life, and her circle of friends starts to shrink as many people take sides on the issue. She wants her old life back, when just she and her mom lived alone and baked cookies and wonderful pies, but now all of that seems to be in the past.  As all the turmoil is broiling around her, June decides that making pies is the best way to continue with her own life, and she sets out to find the best berries for the pie contest at the fair.
