Mom and Eva make plans to wed soon, but some of the
neighbors aren’t too happy about this decision. Public opinion begins
to interfere in June’s life,
and her circle of friends starts to shrink as many people take sides on the issue. She
wants her old life back, when just she and her mom lived alone and baked cookies and wonderful pies, but now all of that seems to be in the past. As all the turmoil is
broiling around her, June decides that making pies is the best way to continue
with her own life, and she sets out to find the best berries for the pie contest at the fair.
The issues of gay rights and gay marriage are examined from the point of view of a child.
