Callie has always had a crush on her
friend Greg. He walks to school
every day with her and Matt. With the
school play looking for students to
help out, Callie decides she wants to be a part of the activity, but she cannot sing
or dance. She decides to be a part of the stage crew,
especially since Greg will be one of the actors. All of her friends are participating in the play, and as excited as
she is about being part of the stage crew, she is worried because she does not know much
about carpentry.
Then, when she places a flier on the board
she meets the twins Justin and Jesse. One of them loves to act,
but the other
one enjoys working on stage designs and decides to join Callie in her quest to
create a really good set for the play. Along the way many
funny things happen, and Callie even gets a chance to have some serious talks with Greg, but she realizes that
Greg likes someone else and she will never be part of his picture.
This is a graphic novel with a lot of heart that addresses a few important issues,
including sexual identity and growing up. It is also very well
illustrated.
