This fun novel is full of adventure and suspense. Each chapter brings a new crisis and will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Full of danger, the story will draw readers in and have them rooting for the survival of the well-developed characters.  Ironically, the pirates are the “good guys.” Additionally, the magical aspect of the story adds excitement and a sense of intrigue that will engage readers.

This book is recommended as a Book of Note, provided that the grammatical errors on pages 168-169 and 253 are corrected.

Summary: As frenemies Brine Seaborne and Peter escape their irritable magician employer and mentor, they find themselves among pirates.  Along with their crew, they must find Magical North and battle an evil magician to save the stories and find their place in their new parts of the world.
