A Wearle of dragons have come to Erth in order to
discover what happened to the previous groups’ expedition. They have laid claim to a mountainous region
for their own territory and have banished the Hom, who used to live there.
Issues within each group are also heading for problems. The dragons are upset over an accident that
killed the young mother and her drake.
The Hom are furious at being denied access to their former homes. While there is now an uneasy existence
between the two, concerns are mounting.
After the young Hom Ren sneaks into dragon territory, he witnesses the
death of the mother dragon and saves her newborn drake. The dragon Gabrial is determined to regain
his honor after being declared responsible for the loss of the baby dragon. When matters escalate into outright warfare
within the dragon clan and between the dragons and the Hom, it is up to Ren and
Gabrial to learn how to work together to save both cultures. This vivid account features a well-paced
plot and exciting events that are sure to appeal to middle-school readers. The ending paves the way for the upcoming
sequel. It also includes a glossary of
dragon terminology.
