Parkinson, Curtis The Castle on Deadman’s Island.
Tundra Books 2009 214p 12.95 978-0-88776-893-4 ms/jr

Graham’s aunt has just inherited one-third of a mysterious old castle, which she must share with two other people, both unsavory. Now she has disappeared, and Graham and his pal Neil fear the worst. This is a compelling read ... the action keeps jumping, the characters are interesting and likable (or nasty), and the solution is not too obvious, but still makes sense. Graham, a scholarly nerd, learns that his aunt has inherited a creaky old castle that she must share with two others, both of them shady characters. When Graham is followed in the library and his life is threatened, he becomes worried about his aunt and goes to the castle to warn her, only to find that she has disappeared. The mystery elements unfold gradually and will keep young mystery lovers turning the pages. CK
