This book covers the topic of strep throat pretty thoroughly
for an elementary-age
student, with an explanation of the difference between
bacteria and viruses, and
symptoms, transmission of the disease, and treatment of the
disease. This is a
well-written and succinct explanation for younger
researchers. It includes
detailed descriptions of bacterial (as opposed to viral)
infections, and
symptoms, transmission, and treatment of strep throat. The photographic
illustrations are good, and well placed. There is a glossary, an index, and a
list of multi-media sources for further information. The web sites cited are
both fairly good. The
glossary could have included more words, such as
╥bacteria╙, but it is adequate. There
are other titles in the series about
other diseases and conditions. Kennedy, Carol
